The new
premises of the All India Chess Federation was opened today ( 02.10.2007)
at Room.No.70, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai - 600 003. by the Hon'ble
Minister of Environment and Sports Thiru T.P.M. Mohideen Khan.
The All
India Chess Federation office premises at Room 70, Jawaharlal Nehru
Stadium, Chennai 600 003 was formally inaugurated by T.P.M.Mohideen Khan,
Minister For Environment and Sports, Government of Tamil Nadu on Gandhi
Jayanti day at 1 p.m. He pulled the rope as the screen covering the Office
Gave way for people to enter.

The AICF Secretary D.V.Sundar, AICF Staff, players who came for the
National Sub-Junior, Chief Arbiter Debashish Barua of Kolkata besides
office bearers of various other sports holding offices in the same stadium
and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu were present.
D.V.Sundar reminded that he was a popular Minister who won elections by a
wide margin of 45,000. He thanked the Minister for making it possible.

inagurates the AICF Training Centre

The Minister later inaugurated the Hall Of Chess in the same stadium above
the AICF Office. The Hall of Chess had been recently handed over to the
Tamil Nadu State Chess Association by the Sports Development Authority.
The Minister cut the ribbon to inaugurate the show. The Hall of Chess has
been completely redesigned and will also be the venue for the National
Sub-Junior Boys and Girls. The Hall of Chess has photo portraits of all
World Champions including our own Viswanathan Anand and also all the men
and women grandmasters of Tamil Nadu.
The Minister Mohideen Khan played 1.e4 and inaugurated the National
Sub-Junior in a well attented ceremony. IM Manuel Aaron in his welcome
address asked the SDAT to treat chess like Olympic sports and follow the
trend set by the Central Government towards chess. D.V.Sundar said some of
the benefits offered by SDAT to chess is already like the Olympic sport
but only putting it in paper will be required by the Tamil Nadu State
Chess Association. The Canara Bank General Manager said his bank was
pleased to be associated with Social activities and chess. The National
Sub-Junior for boys and girls will run from October 2-10.
