Anand Well Set To Regain World Title

World No.1 Viswanathan Anand scored victory number four to further enhance his lead to a 1.5-point margin in the FIDE World Chess Championship Tournament being played at Mexico City on Sep 25. Anand defeated Alexander Morozevich of Russia in 56 moves with white to reach 7.5 points from eleven games. Three rounds remain to be played. Boris Gelfand of Israel is on six points and defending champion Vladimir Kramnik and others are on 5.5 points each and behind.

Anand, the 1969-born NIIT Branc Ambassador is well set to regain his title he last won seven years back at Tehran beating Alexei Shirov. A 1.5-point lead from three rounds is a big lead and he could win the title even with two rounds to spare on Thursday.

Anand won in 56 exciting moves after he won the black's queen side pawns. Morozevich won the king side pawns and even managed to queen. Anand won with a great rook move forcing a new queen for himself in great tactical style. The Indian is in beaming form and is playing at his all-time best.
