Boys Get 50% Score In Round Seven
By Arvind Aaron

Indian girls had a poor round seven while our boys did better and gave out an average performance in the World Junior Championship at Yerevan. Six rounds remain to be played.

Among boys, two of them won, and as many lost and three of them made draws. Boys did better in round seven though the Indian interest evolves around the girls since we have Harika who is the top seed.

Six seed Nebolsina Vera of Russia drew top seed Dronavalli Harika with the white pieces and broke her own all-win record so far to lead with 6.5/7. Harika in in clear third place with 5.5 points. Karavade won and is on five points and tied for the fourth place. Only this Pune girl won for the Indians.

Three Indians, Soumya Swaminathan, Padmini Rout and Marh Ann Gomes share the 15th place with 4/7. P.Priys is on 3.5 points.

In boys, G.N.Gopal and Parimarjan Negi are sharing the third place on five points with six others. Negi won while Gopal drew. The other winner for India was Rohit. Indian scorers: 12-21 Ashwin Jayaram 4.5, 22-36 J.Deepan Chakkaravarthy, Gogineni Rohit 4 each, 60-60 Abhishek Das 2.5.

Only Arun Karthik is performing far below expectations. He is tied for the 70th to 75th place with two points. The boys section has 80 players.
