Negi Ties For First Place In Russia

Parimarjan Negi tied for the first to fourth places and finished third
with 7/11 in the 5th World's Youth Stars Tournament for the Somov Memorial
that took place from May 14-28 in Russia. Young players from seven
countries took part in this 12-player all-play-all.
Four players tied for first place and IM Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia was
declared winner with higher tie-break score. GM Rauf Mamedov (Aze)
finished second and 15-year old Negi took third place. Fourth place went
to GM Zaven Andriasian of Armenia.
Negi is the biggest gainer of Elo from this tournament. He played at 2604,
89 Elo higher than his 2515 rating. He won five games, lost two including
one to the winner and drew four.
