State Senior Open Chess Championship
May 30th to June 2nd, 2007. Jaipur.


All Rajputana Chess Association , an affiliated unit of All India Chess Federation in Rajasthan State, Organised 7 Round State Senior Open Chess Championship. 62 Players including 16 International Rated Players, 8 female player including Four International Rated from all over Rajasthan participated in This strong State level tournament. This is also first time in the Chess History Of Rajasthan that Four International Rated Female Chess Players participated in any State Level Tourament.


Event was so strong that regaining Champion Mukesh Mandloi had to settle at 11th position. Ex National B Champion Kantilal Dave of Jodhpur won the Championship & Cash Prize of Rs 3000/ when he drew against 3 time State Champion Praveen saxena of Kota. With this draw Praveen Saxena got 6th position with 5.5 points . Kantilal Dave remained undefeated throughout the tournament & got 6 points out of 7. Vikram Singh of Jaipur was runner up when he shocked regaining Champion Mukesh Mandloi of Kota in Final Round. Vikram Singh got 2nd position & cash Prize of Rs. 2000/ with 5.5 points. Senior Jaipur Player Devesh Mukharji drew against Young Talent Tarun Sharma to get 3rd position & cash Prize of Rs. 1500/ Tarun settled at Fourth Position & got cash Prize of Rs 1000/. Both of these secured 5.5.points.Jaipur’s Giant killer Sulman Khan upset Sonakshi Rathore to get 5th position with 5.5 points & cash Prize of Rs. 1000/. Players from 6th to 10th position got cash prize of Rs 500/ each. Totol PrizeMoney was Rs 11000/-

Among Boys U19 Abhinav Mathur of Jaipur was declared Best U19 on better progressive. Dilip Sharma of Kota remained second. Chaitanya Bapana of Udaipur was best U17 boy where as Arpit Gupta of Jaipur was second.


Among Girls U19 Nishtha Gupta of Sri Ganganagar secured 4.5 points to get Best U19 Girl title. Juhi Ajmera of Jaipur with 4.5 points was second. Nishtha Gupta was also Best U17 Girls & Juhi Ajmera was Second Best U17 Girls.


Prize distribution was a simple but well attended Function because Rajasthan was reeling under its worst communal tension.
