45th National B Chess Championship
The mega
event, PSNA College of Engineering & Technology 45th National B Chess
Championship organized by Mount Chess Academy and Indian Chess School has
drawn 290 players, from all the nooks and corners of the country. The
pride of top seed has gone to Abhijit Gupta, winner of many international
medals at the Asian and Commonwealth level, followed by M.R. Venkatesh,
former bronze medalist in the World U10 championship at Brazil. The
strength of the championship can be gauged by the fact that there are more
than 10 players with a rating above 2400. The participation of 27 IMs, 3
WGMs and one WIM has added charm to the championship. The tournament hall
in the host college is a spacious one, housing all the 290 players under
one roof, comfortably.
Rtn. G. Sundararajan, President, Dindigul District Chess Association
presided over the inaugural function and Mrs. Latha Narasimhan, Regional
Manager, LIC of India, the co-sponsor inaugurated the championship. Mr.D.V.
Sundar, Hon. Sec, All India Chess Federation, Manuel Aaron,
Gn.Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and Dr. Lakshmana Prabhu,
Director of the host college. offered felicitations.
