Humpy Wins Kaupthing Open

World No.2 in women, GM Koneru Humpy of ONGC, Vijayawada won the Kaupthing Open after she had the better tie-break score than GM Hannes Stefansson of Iceland. The event was held from July 7-14 at Differdange in Luxembourg.
 

Humpy scored 7/9 and won the trophy and 3,000 Euros prize money. "I hope to cross the 2600 rating mark in Abu Dhabi next month," Humpy said.Young lions Viktor Erdos, Tigran Gharamian and Sebastien Feller finished tied on third place, while top rated GM Vadim Malakhatko and Vladimir Georgiev ended up on tied 17th. Total prize fund was 20.000 Euros, divided into 42 prizes.

Final placings: 1-2. GM Humpy Koneru (IND 2572) and GM Hannes Stefansson (ISL 2568) 7/9 each, 3-7. IM Viktor Erdos (HUN 2523), IM Tigran Gharamian (FRA 2517), GM Leonid Kritz (GER 2571), IM Hedinn Steingrimsson (ISL 2470) and IM Sebastien Feller (FRA 2478) 6.5...88 players,
