Bu Xiangzhi Wins Ahead Of Chanda

Kolkata GM Sandipan Chanda tied for the second to sixth places in the Canadian Open that oncluded at Ottawa on July 15 (July 16 morning Indian time). In the

final round, Chanda was required a win with the black pieces against Kamil Miton to tie for the first place but only managed a draw. In the game between the

other two joint leaders, Bu overcame Vadim Milov of Switzerland to win the title with 8/10 in the 280-player event.

Chanda tied for the second to fifth place with 7.5 points. Abhijit Kunte scored a final round win to tie for the seventh to 21st places with seven points.

Chanda tied for first place in the earlier World Open at Philadephia on July 5.

Final placings: 1 Bu Xiangzhi 8/10, 2-6 Sandipan Chanda, Nigel Short, Kamil Miton, Tomas Krnan, Bator Sambuev 7.5 each, 7-21 Abhijit Kunte, Vadim Milov,
