State Selection Chess Champion Chinmay Kulkarni of Pune clinched the Central
Maharashtra Chess Championship FIDE Rating Chess Tournament Title. This
tournament was organized by Bandhutwa Group, Dhayari jointly with Pune District
Chess Association and on behalf of Central Maharashtra Chess Association at
Laxmi Mangal Karyalaya, Dhayari, Pune from 26th Nov. to 30th Nov, 07. Chinmay
bagged the First Prize of Rs. 15,000/- & Champions Trophy.
The Top seven players Chinmay Kulkarni, Kapil Lohana, Rahul Kumar, Gaurav Konde,
Gaurav Bakliwal, Rajesh Oza & Renju Sunny will represent Central Maharashtra in
the Maharashtra State Selection for National 'B' Chess Championship 2008 to be
held next year.

Players, out of which 22 were FIDE Rated participated in this Championship. This
tournament being Central Maharashtra Championship, only players from Pune,
Ahmednagar, Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Raigad & Nandurbar Districts were eligible
to participate.

The Tournament was inaugurated by Mr. B.G. Deshmukh Chairman Market Yard
Committee. The Chief Guest for the Prize Distribution Function was
Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune Dr. Jalindhar Supekar. Mr. Milind
Pokale, President Bandhutwa Group, Dhayari & his Team have successfully
organized this prestigious event. This is the third year they have organized a
Chess tournament at Dhayari, Pune. The Chief Arbiter Mr. Joseph D'souza
ably supported by Deputy Arbiters Mr. Nitin Shenvi & Mr. Praveen Gavande
conducted the tournament smoothly without a single protest.
