Anand Celebrates Birthday As World Champion

World Champion Viswanathan Anand turned 38 on Tuesday. The Indian chess legend has achieved three major achievements of winning the Linares Tournament at Spain earlier in March this year for the second time and on April 2 he became the World No.1 ranked player for the first time. On September 29, 2007 he won the World Chess title for the second time.

Anand was born on December 11, 1969 at Chennai. He had been busy winning tournaments all these last 20 years since winning the World Junior in 1987 and making a mark in the international arena.

Anand is expected to play some Bundesliga games for his German champion team Baden Baden later this weekend. His next major tournament starts at Wijk aan Zee in the Netherlands early next year.

The All India Chess Federation officials greet the World Champion Anand on his birthday and wish him continued success, happiness and good health. Many Happy Returns Of The Day Vishy Anand!
