Celebrates Birthday As World Champion
World Champion Viswanathan Anand turned 38 on Tuesday. The Indian chess
legend has achieved three major achievements of winning the Linares
Tournament at Spain earlier in March this year for the second time and on
April 2 he became the World No.1 ranked player for the first time. On
September 29, 2007 he won the World Chess title for the second time.
Anand was born on December 11, 1969 at Chennai. He had been busy winning
tournaments all these last 20 years since winning the World Junior in 1987
and making a mark in the international arena.
Anand is expected to play some Bundesliga games for his German champion
team Baden Baden later this weekend. His next major tournament starts at
Wijk aan Zee in the Netherlands early next year.
The All India Chess Federation officials greet the World Champion Anand on
his birthday and wish him continued success, happiness and good health.
