After a close match, Krishnan Sasikiran of ONGC, Chennai won the round
three match by 4-2 agaiinst B.Maceija of Poland at Khanty-Mansiysk in
Russia on Sunday. In the fourth round, Sasikiran faces former FIDE world
champion Ruslan Ponomariov of Ukraine.
In the biggest upset of the event so far, top seed Vassily Ivanchuk of
Ukraine was knocked out by Nisipeanu of Romania in the tiebreak by
3.5-2.5. The FIDE World Cup is a 128-player knock out tournament that will
conclude on December 18.
