To All Players Eligible to participate in the
Velammal 45th National “A” Chess Championship
And their State Associations

Dear Sir,

We are glad to inform you that we shall be holding the prestigious Velammal 45th National “A” Chess Championship at Chennai from February 3 to February 15, 2008.

The venue of the championship will be the TNCA Club which is in the famous MAC Cricket Stadium at Chepauk. Players can easily reach it from Chennai Central Station which is 3 KM away. From the Chennai Airport it is about 22 KM.

Please note that the TNCA Club has a dress code and players are required to be attired properly. Please do not come in shirts or T-shirts without collars. Also, do not wear bathroom slippers in the Club.

The players’ meeting shall be held at 10 A.M. on Sunday, the 3rd February. The inauguration shall be at 11 A.M. The first round of the championship shall be held from 2 P.M. on February 3, 2008 and shall be held every day thereafter at the same time. However, the last round shall be held from 9:30 A.M. on 15 February. The closing ceremony shall be held in the evening of 15 February 2008. Players are obliged to attend the Opening and Closing ceremonies. The Championship is a 13-round Swiss.

Free lodging shall be provided to non-Chennai players in double rooms either at the stadium itself or at nearby hotels if they inform us by letter or Email latest by 15th January 2008 if they want us to arrange for their accommodation.

All players, or their state associations, should pay the following on or before 15th January 2008 to our Association to ensure that they participate in this Championship:

1. Entry fee of Rs. 1000 each by a Demand Draft on Chennai favouring Tamil Nadu State Chess Association

2. AICF Registration fee of Rs 250 for the year 2007-2008. Those who have already paid their AICF Registration fee for 2007-8, should send proof of it along with the entry fees.
 

Entries received after 15th January 2008 and those without the entry fee would be rejected.
