Tamil Nadu Gearing Up For Big Celebrations

The Tamil State chess Association is gearing up for its Diamond Jubilee
Celebrations on April 26, 2007 starting 4 p.m. at the R.K.Swamy Auditorium
at 5, Sundareswarar Street in Mylapore, in Chennai.
High on the list of celebrations is the felicitation for Viswanathan Anand,
the new world No.1. The fifth Annual Awards Ceremony for the Tamil Nadu
players will see World, Asian and National champions from the state being
paid a total of Rs.3,50,000 by TNSCA President P.R.Venketrama Raja.
Legendary past Presidents of the TNSCA will be present. International
Master Manuel Aaron will read out the achievements of the Tamil Nadu State
Chess Association in these 60 years. The speech of Viswanathan Anand is
going the leave the media and lensmen on their toes. It will be a moment
to cherish.
Some of the founding members and founding Secretary A.v.Sriramulu will be
honoured on that day. D.V.Sundar, Hon. Secretary of the All India Chess
Federation will felicitate Tamil Nadu Chess and Viswanathan Anand.
From 4 p.m. GM Deepan Chakkaravarthy, IMs V.Saravanan and M.R.Venkatesh
will each take on 20 opponents each in simultaneous displays. Those

All are invited. Those who make it early will find seating. The President
of the AICF, N.Srinivasan is the Chief Guest. Krishnan Sasikiran who led
India to a gold medal in the Asian Games at Doha last year will also be
present.
