Many
players are participating in tournaments abroad. AICF is happy about
this. However, such participation should be with the permission of the
AICF. This is as per the Rules & Regulations of the AICF, which all
Registered players of AICF have to follow. Therefore, all the players
desirous of participating in tournaments abroad need to take AICF's
permission well in advance.
In
this connection it will be pertinent to note the directions received by
the AICF from the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of
Youth Affairs and Sports recently. The extract of the relevant
portion is given below :
“Recently some incidents have
come to the notice of this Ministry wherein some of the participants of
the team disappeared from foreign locations. The matter has been viewed
very seriously as the incident have caused acute embarrassment to the
Government of India.
In view of above, all
recognized National Sports Federations are directed to take appropriate
action as per the details given below :
( i ) All NSF’s should
carefully screen the sports person and accompanying officials of their own
to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
( ii ) All NSF’s should inform
well in advance the Indian High Commission / Embassy of the event along
with the travel plans and itinerary of the delegation for participation in
the International event.
( iii ) Before recommending the
proposal for participation in an International event, full particulars of
all the sports persons of the team should be sent to the Ministry in
advance as per the details indicated in the proforma mentioned below :
