shocked Anatoly Karpov of Russia in the Cap d'Agde Rapid Chess Group B
Match on Saturday. Both Koneru Humpy and P.Harikrishna have the chance to
qualify for the knock out stage while Parimarjan Negi has lost his chance
already.
Three Indian grandmasters are competing in the Cap d'Agde Masters Rapid
Chess tournament from October 26 to November 2, 2006 at Agde in France.
Two Indians, P.Harikrishna and Parimarjan Negi were in Group A and Koneru
Humpy is in Group B. Each group had eight players and it is an
all-play-all within the group.
Four players advance to the knock out stage. Eliminated players of the
group receive 1,000 Euros and those losing in the quarterfinals get 2,000
Euros, losing semifinalists receive 4,000 Euros and the runner-up gets
8,000 Euros and the winner gets 16,000 Euros.
There is one more round left to be played on Sunday evening after which
the quarter final pairing will be
drawn. The placings after round six of each of the two groups:
