Nationla Under - 7 Chess Championship @ Goa
Second round results
Megna, Ivana continued leading girls.
On the top board C.R. Megna (2) trapped a piece of
Madhumita N (both from Kerala) and then slowly but surely converted it
into a win. On the second board Goa’s Golden Girl Ivana Furtado playing
black pieces against Priyanka Kumawat of Rajasthan faced some unusual
moves against her French Defense. Ivana begen exchanging pieces and in the
end game her superior technique won her the point. Riya Sawant of Goa beat
R. Ankita of Karnataka to join the leaders.
Goa’s Vidula Dempo , Nadia Dias and Reema Naik all
won their second round games.
Boys Section
Sai Akshay(2) of AP beat his compatriot Hrithik
Reddy(1) using the Closed Sicilian Defense. Abhumanyu Puranik of MAH beat
Jayesh M of TN who tried the Petroff Defense against him, while Jerome
Ebenezer beat fellow Tamilian Adiya M.
Among the Goan players Rishabh Naik and Snehil
Shetty joined the leading group by beating Anand
S. (Kerala) and Clifford F. (TN) respectively, Sumukh
Pinge played a hard fought draw against Arijit Basak of Jharkhand. However
Devid Velho lost to Siddharth G. Prnav Mahatme, Girish Kulkarni won in
second round games.
