Shiven Khosla Beats Sai Krishna, In Joint Lead

Shiven Khosla of Maharashtra played a spectacular rook sarcifice to defeat National Under-9 champion G.V.Sai Krishna of Andhra Pradesh in the fourth round and be among the nine leaders in the National Under-11 Championship at Chennai on November 6.

Sahaj Grover of Delhi planted a passed pawn on the seventh rank to win an easy bishop ending against Pratik Patil of Maharashtra. Sahaj, Shiven, Fenil Shah (Guj), D.Yashas (Kar), Vishwanathan Prasad (AP), C.Majumdar (Ben), Niraj Saripalli (Goa), Vishnu Gopakumar (Ker) and S.Sridev (TN) are leading with
full four points in the 212 player 11-round Swiss.
 

 

Priyanka Kumari

J.Sahari (AP), Priyanka Kumari (Jha) and P.Sujitha (TN) are in the joint lead in the Girls section with full four points. While Priyanka pinned a bishop and won the game, Sahari won a close opposite colour bishop ending. In an advantageous position, Sujitha of Coimbatore capitalised on the queen blunder of her opponent to win and share the lead.

Players on whom overage complaints were received were sent for medical tests on Monday and the results are expected to be received on Tuesday. In the opening ceremony, D.V.Sundar, Hon Secretary of the AICF had threatened severe action against over aged players competing in any of the National Age Group Championships.
