The tenth edition of the 100,000 Euro Corsica Masters is on in Bastia in France. Viswanathan Anand will be looking for his sixth title this time. There are many preliminary and open events happening prior to the festival and ONGC's grandmasters, Krishnan Sasikiran, Sandipan Chanda and Neelotpal Das are warming themselves.

Anand, the winner of the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 titles will be looking forward to win the title he
lost to Vadim Milov of Biel, Switzerland in 2005. There is also a greater Indian presence for the first time though Sasikiran had played there since 2003.

The main event is one large Swiss with semi-rapid controls. The top 16 players from the qualifier play the best of two rapid to decide who will advance. The event happens before an audience of around 500
spectators with commentary over wireless headsets in French.

This year the main schedule is from Nov 4-7. The website to follow ishttp://www.opencorsica.com/versionhtml.html
