Kiran Monisha Mohanty of Bhubaneswar and Eesha Karavade of Pune are among
the 20 leaders with full three points at the end of the third round in the
44th National `B' Championship being played at Ahmedabad on Sunday Sep 3,
2006.
Top seed K.Ratnakaran of Kozhikode is tied for the second spot with 2.5
points. In the third round, G.B.Joshi of Indian Airlines, Delhi held IM
Poobesh Anand of Madurai to a creditable draw.
In the game of the day, Akshat Khamparia played the Sicilian dragon and
overcame IM Himanshu Sharma. Well known IM V.Saravanan was felled by Laltu
Chatterjee. Dronavalli Harika was in the drivers seat all along but made a
mistake in the time trouble to bow to defeat against Pravin Prasad (AP).
Two Chennai players suffered defeats. G.B.Prakash of Indian Bank who only
requires 2500 rating for his GM title, lost to T.Purushottaman of AP while
WGM Aarthie Ramesh lost to active tournament player Sagar Shah.
When there are 303 players, there is no short of excitement. World U-10
champion Sahaj Grover of Delhi beat veteran and former national champion
S.Nasir Ali of Kanpur.
FIDE Master K.V.Shantharam of Indian Bank, Chennai was held to a draw by
Asian Under-10 champion G.V.Sai Krishna of Vijayawada.
