Easy For Adhiban, Rout

B.Adhiban of Tamil Nadu and Padmini Rout of Orissa won the 19th National U-13 Championships that was played at at the St. Thomas Church School in Howrah, West Bengal from January 4-12, 2006. They picked up Rs.8,000 as cash prize each.

While Adhiban won by a 1.5-point margin, Rout won by a one point margin in the girls section. Adhiban is a Chennai schoolboy and is presently trained by IMs T.S.Ravi and R.Ravisekhar. He had won three Tamil Nadu state age group titles and come fourth in the National Sub-Junior this past year.

International Arbiter R.C.Chatterjee was the Chief Arbiter while his deputy was International Arbiter Udayan Kanti Ghosh. The 175-player boys section attracted 62 FIDE rated players and the 91-player girls section had 23 FIDE rated players.

In the opening ceremony, the inauguration was done by Mrs Ramola Chakraborty, President of WBCA in the presence of GM Dibyendu Barua, Bharat Singh, Treasurer AICF, and Udayan Kanti Ghosh, Joint Secretary, AICF.

Boys: 1 B.Adhiban (TN) 10/11, 2-5 S.Nitin (TN), R.Adiyata Vikash (AP), Answesh Upadhay (Ori), Debashish Das (Ori) 8.5 each, 6-10 P.Shyam Nikhil (TN), Sandeep Yellaamanchili (AP), N.Surendran (TN), G.A.Stany (Kar), S.P.Seehuraman (TN), 8 each, 11-15 Swayams Mishra (Ori), Karan Ajinkya (Mah), Prantik Roy (WB), P.Kranthikumar (AP), Aditya K.Udeshi (Mah) 7.5 each.

Girls: 1 Padmini Rout (Ori) 10/11, 2 P.Lakshmi Sahithi (AP) 9, 3-5 Bhakti P.Kulkarni (Goa), Pon N.Krithikha (TN), Devangi R.Patankar (Mah) 8.5 each, 6 Ch Divya Sri (AP) 8, 7-9 Kanuri Tejaswi (AP), S.Gayathri (TN), K.E.R.Ranjitha (TN) 7.5 each, 10-13 V.Bhavana (AP), M.V.Pankaj Lahari (AP), Pavithra Jagtap (Kar), B.Pratyusha (AP) 7 each, 14-15 S.Ashwini (TN), Rama Kumari (Jha) 6.5 each.
