The first day of spring, March 21, brought victory for Indian chess. The Madras High Court dismissed the Writ Petition of the Chhattisgarh Chess Association and also lifted the intermin injunction restraining the All India Chess Federation to the relief of all the Indian chess players.
Reacting to the news, D.V.Sundar, Secretary of the AICF said, "we were confident of this verdict, although it took some time." Now, the AICF, President, Secretary and all are free to function in their respective capacities. Chess officials Bharat Singh (Treasurer) and R.M.Dongre (Vice President) were also in Chennai to celebrate the occasion. From March 21 it will be a business as usual in the All India Chess Federation. It is however a big blow for V.K.Rathi of Rajnandgaon and his supporters like P.T.Ummer Koya of Kozhikode. This verdict should speed up the National events to be held this year.
