Ravi Hegde Wins

International Master Ravi Hegde of Union Bank of India, Bangalore won the All India Inter-Bank Chess Tournament that concluded at Chennai's Hall of Chess on January 23. The event was part of the fourth Bank Sports Olympiad organised by Indian Bank at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

Moti Ram pipped Thipsay for the second place on toss. The team title went to hosts Indian Bank (G.B.Prakash, K.Gopalakrishnan, Sudhakar Babu, K.V.Shantharam, V.Hariharan, Sai Meera), Chennai. Over 80 players from most banks took part.

Final placings: 1 Ravi Hegde (UBI) 6, 2-6 Moti Ram (SBP), P.M.Thipsay (UBI), G.B.Prakash (IB), K.N.Gopal (AB), K.Gopalakrishnan (IB) 5.5 each. Leading placings: 1 Indian Bank 21, 2 Union Bank of India 20.5, 3 Andhra Bank 18.5.
