Parimarjan Negi In Sight Of Second GM Norm - 9th Round Results

NEW DELHI: Belarus Grandmaster Alexei Fedorov defeated S. Satyagragyan to take an unbeatable one-point leader after the ninth and penultimate round of the fourth Parsvnath International Open chess tournament at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here on Saturday. 

Fedorov's victory took his tally to 8.5 points. He is followed by Pavel Kotsur (Kazakhstan) and Saptarshi Roy at 7.5 points. 

Saptarshi Rly caused a flutter by beating second seed and National champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly. 

Parimarjan Negi continued his fine run against Grandmasters when he drew with Dibyendu Barua. The youngster needs a victory in the final round for a Grandmaster norm. 

Diwakar Prasad Singh and Arjun Tiwari made their maiden International Master norms.  9th Round Results
