Kunte.
At the end of the second round, Koneru Humpy of Vijayawada is the only grandmaster with full points. She shares the lead with
2/2 along with M.R.Venkatesh of Bharat Petroleum, Chennai and Deepan Chakkaravarthy of Madurai in Tamil
Nadu.
National A debutant Kiran Monisha Mohanty of Bhubaneswar is one of the four leaders in the 32nd National Women A Championship being played simultaneously. The other three are Nimmy George (Ker), Swati Ghate (LIC, Pune), Mary Ann Gomes (Kolkata) 2/2. Top seed and world No.11 Vijayalakshmi was involved in yet another draw. Defending champion Nisha Mohota of PSPB, Kolkata had a big fish when she overcame Aarthie Ramesh of Indian Airlines,
Chennai.
After losing to Chanda in the opener, GM Tejas Bakre of Indian Airlines, Ahmedabad fell sick and withdrew. He did not play from the second round and his first round will go for rating but not the tournament standings. Points given to the players are also against the number of games played.
