Tania Beats Kruttika For Sole Lead

Tania Sachdev of Delhi scored a crushing win against Kruttika Nadig of
Maharashtra in the ninth round to wrest sole lead in the Win TV National
Women "A"
Chess Championship being played here today.
Tania is a 20-year old woman grandmaster from Delhi who is sponsored by
Indian Airlines. She has seven points from nine games and just two rounds
remain to
be played. WGM Dronavalli Harika (AP) won an ending to defeat S.Harini and
move to the clear second place on 6.5 points. The third spot is shared by
four
players and they include: S.Vijayalakshmi, Aarthie Ramaswamy (both IA),
Swati Ghate (LIC) and Amruta Mokal (Mah).
The Delhi girl remained aggressive all through with the white pieces and
engaged the black king with her queen and knight to win the game
comfortably in 28
moves. Aarthie Ramaswamy sacrificed a rook to score an attacking 24-move
win against defending champion Swati Ghate. Amruta Mokal of Pune shocked
WGM
Meenakshi with the black pieces and is in the run for her 10-game Woman
International Mater norm. Vijayalakshmi clawed back to joint third place
after she
trapped Ramyakrishna's king in a mating net.
