Lead has remain unchanged with the top three in the standings figuring in drawn round ten games of the 31st National Women A played at Hotel Goldfinch in Bangalore on May 3. The pairings for the final bend of the event is both tough and can have a dual effect as some of the title rivals are to meet face to face.

Tuesday was a quiet day with the two leaders, Nisha Mohota and Mary Ann Gomes playing black and taking draws. They are on 7/10 and are followed closely by Anupama Gokhale with 6.5. Of the top five, Anupama has the relatively weakest opponents to take on and could be a favourite if she can hold her nerve. In the joint fourth place are Aarthie Ramesh and Swati Ghate with six points. They have the toughest opponents to take on but have the capacity to lift their playing level at such times. But the round 12 clash between Mary-Ann v Nisha Mohota will be the title decider. Three rounds remain to be played and the placings are far from decided.

In round 10, Swati Ghate made a big leap beating Bhagyashree Thipsay with the black pieces. Aarthie won against the out of form Kruttika Nadig. Anupama drew her room-mate Nimmy George with the white pieces. Leaders Mary-Ann and Nisha have white on Wednesday and one can expect them to go for that win.
