Top seed Nisha Mohota of LIC, Calcutta won the 31st National Women "A" Chess Championship scoring 9/13 in a 14-player round robin championship at Bangalore on Friday.
Nisha won five games and drew eight for her first National Women Championship title. She picked up Rs.37000 as cash prize and a Black Queen as a trophy.
Nisha said, " I am very happy and I wish to improve my chess every day"
Mary Ann Gomes was delighted to finish second on her maiden appearance.
